Summary
Bentley Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer, Graphics to join their team, preferably located near Philadelphia, with hybrid or home-based opportunities available in the US. The role focuses on driving the next generation of platform architecture across Cesium runtimes and 3D data pipelines.
About the Role
As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will define and evolve the architectural foundations of the Cesium platform, ensuring technical coherence, scalability, and developer experience. You will collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership, shape industry standards, and engage with the user community while actively participating in coding and mentoring senior engineers.
About You
Required:
- 12+ years of engineering experience, including significant time working on complex distributed systems, platform architecture, graphics/visualization pipelines, or high-performance systems.
- Proven track record as a Staff, Principal, or Senior Principal Engineer operating across multiple teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence long-range technical direction at an organizational scale.
- Strong experience aligning engineering and product strategy.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and comfort with external visibility.
Preferred:
- Deep expertise in real-time graphics (WebGPU/WebGL, Vulkan/Metal/DX12), 3D engines (Unity, Unreal, custom engines), or distributed systems.
- Experience in C/C++ or other programming languages.
- Passion for open standards and open source.
