Altruist is seeking a Senior Product Designer, Design Systems (Contract) to join their design team in San Francisco, CA. The role focuses on leading the creation and maintenance of scalable, accessible, and elegant UI components within Altruist's design system.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer focused on Design Systems, you will partner closely with a Design Systems Engineer and work cross-functionally to evolve Altruist's design system. Your responsibilities include leading the vision and strategy for the design system, designing new components, collaborating with engineering for design-code alignment, defining reusable components, and mentoring product designers on best practices.
About You
Required:
- 6+ years of product design experience, including 2+ years focused on design systems in product-led environments.
- Expertise in Figma, component architecture, atomic design, and managing large design libraries.
- Experience supporting design systems for both desktop and mobile platforms.
- Technical fluency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks like React.
- Strong visual design craft with a deep understanding of layout, hierarchy, and interaction.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in fast-paced, iterative environments.
Preferred:
- Experience building or contributing to motion design standards within a design system.
- Experience working across both consumer and enterprise applications.
