Summary
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Software Manager to join their team in Richardson, TX. The role involves leading a team of software engineers to design and develop embedded software for defense and military Command and Control systems.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Manager, you will oversee project leadership throughout the entire life cycle, including bids, project management, design, requirements capture, coding, integration, verification, and certification. You will provide technical leadership, coach and mentor team members, recruit software engineering talent, and ensure compliance with development processes. Your role will also involve balancing technical oversight with people management.
About You
Required:
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
- Ability to obtain Final Secret U.S. government issued security clearance.
- Practical experience in all phases of software development, integration, and testing.
- Strong software engineering skills, critical thinking, and team motivation.
- Previous experience as a Software Manager, Software Lead, or Software Project Engineer.
- Minimum 5-7 years of software development experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in developing embedded or application software for military airborne platforms.
- Direct experience in software bid and proposal efforts.
- Knowledge of software development methods such as Iterative or Agile.
- Familiarity with communications systems.
