Summary
Redwood Materials is seeking a Service Engineer, Energy Storage to join their team in San Francisco, CA. The role involves resolving complex technical issues across deployed Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and supporting an Operations and Maintenance organization.
About the Role
As a Service Engineer, you will act as the primary technical escalation point for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) organization, leading investigations and resolutions of complex electrical and system-integration issues. You will also mentor a team of Service Engineers, translate field feedback into actionable requirements, and drive improvements in system serviceability and reliability.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience supporting complex electromechanical or power electronics systems.
- Deep understanding of BESS system architecture, including batteries, PCS/inverters, EMS, thermal management, and protection systems.
Preferred:
- Proven experience operating in a tiered support model (O&M → Service Engineering → Product Engineering).
- A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place.
