About the Role
As a Shelver, you will work between 8 and 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Your responsibilities will include sorting and returning library materials, checking for missing or damaged items, performing clerical tasks, and maintaining neatness in public service areas. You will also assist with opening and closing routines and may work at the service desk during breaks.
About You
Required:
- Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
- Skill in customer service.
- Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries.
- Available to work between 8-20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays.
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, and stand; to lift light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less); and to push Library materials carts up to 200 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Age and Schooling Certificate ("work permit") required for those under 18 years of age.
- Criminal background check required for those 18 years of age or older.
