The Hartford is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer - Big Data Platform to join their Cloud Big Data Platform Engineering & Operations team in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on ensuring the stability, scalability, and reliability of data platforms to support Data & Analytics applications.
About the Role
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will administer and engineer Big Data platforms across multiple Hadoop clusters in the cloud (AWS EMR), design and implement resilient Data Platforms through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and ensure operational excellence by driving service restoration during high impact incidents. You will apply SRE principles to create robust tooling and automated response mechanisms, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with data teams to enhance platform performance and efficiency.
About You
Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
At least 7 years of experience in IT, platform administration, database management, or analytics.
At least 3 years of hands-on engineering experience in developing platform solutions on AWS using Infrastructure as Code.
Proficiency in tools and concepts including Hadoop, Linux, Python, SQL, Spark, and cloud platforms.
Experience in Configuration management using CloudFormation / Terraform.
Advanced experience with programming and/or scripting languages (Python, bash).
AWS Solution Architect Certification.
Cloudera Admin Certification.
