Heart Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer I/II, Flight Software to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves developing software for the ES-30 hybrid-electric airplane, focusing on safety-critical systems.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the Flight Software Team, you will be responsible for all aspects of software development for the aircraft. This includes interfacing with engineers to develop requirements, writing high-quality code, building tests and test infrastructure, and supporting the software lifecycle. You will implement aircraft control functions, develop models and simulation tools, and establish fault tolerance mechanisms.
About You
Required:
- 0–2 years of professional experience in structural design, aerospace engineering, or a related field for Software Engineer I.
- 2+ years of professional industry experience for Software Engineer II.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in writing production-quality code in systems languages such as Rust, C, C++, or Python.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred:
- Experience with embedded execution environments (microcontrollers, bare metal, RTOS, embedded OS).
- Experience modeling cyber-physical systems.
- Experience with software and hardware test development including unit tests, CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing.
- Passion for aircraft and the company mission.
