About the Role
As a Special Police Officer, you will be responsible for intervening in unruly situations, apprehending individuals for criminal activity, conducting investigations, responding to emergency calls, and preparing criminal cases for court. You will also serve as a subject matter expert in criminal processes and provide armed response to imminent threats.
About You
Required:
- General Law Enforcement Certification issued by applicable state Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards.
- Basic Law Enforcement Training.
- Ability to work independently and respond calmly in complex, stressful situations.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local criminal statutes and case law.
- Valid Driver's license.
Preferred:
- 2 years of general law enforcement or public safety experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with a firearm to meet Advocate Health and applicable state standards.
- Ability to pass rigorous background check, polygraph, and/or psychological testing.
