About the Role
As a Spill Responder, you will act as the State On-Scene Coordinator during emergency oil and hazardous materials incidents, represent the Department at Local Emergency Planning Committee meetings, conduct investigations, and maintain proficiency with various tools and equipment. Your work will focus on preventing spills and reducing their environmental impacts through effective response strategies.
About You
Required:
- Six years of combined experience and/or education in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- Experience in Incident Command and Emergency Response Leadership, applying ICS principles to manage complex incidents.
- Advanced Spill Response and Hazardous Materials Operations skills.
- Knowledge of hazardous substance identification, sampling techniques, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred:
- Prior hazardous materials, emergency response, or disaster response experience.
- Experience working in the Incident Command System.
- Hazardous Materials Technician and Specialist Certifications.
- Familiarity with the Northwest Area Contingency Plan.
