Summary
City of Evanston is seeking a Sports Camp Director for Summer 2026 to oversee the safety and instruction of children ages 6-11 at the Chandler-Newberger Community Center.
About the Role
As the Sports Camp Director, you will be responsible for supervising children, planning and leading enrichment activities, managing counselors and volunteers, ensuring safety during camp activities, and maintaining communication with caregivers regarding participant progress. You will also handle administrative tasks such as completing reports and managing camp paperwork.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or working towards Bachelor’s in Education or related discipline.
- Experience working with children.
- At least 1 year experience working in a camp setting.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
Preferred:
- Ability to read staff manuals, memos, and attendance sheets.
- Ability to complete attendance sheets, accident reports, and camper behavior reports using prescribed format.
- Experience in managing and evaluating staff.
Benefits
- Starting pay at $21.75 per hour.
- Seasonal employment with a schedule of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday from June 15 to August 7.
