About the Role
As a Sr. Battery Cell Engineer, you will join Rivian's Advanced Materials Prototype (AMP) organization and lead the design and execution of validation and test plans for new battery technologies. Your responsibilities include coordinating with external vendors, developing custom test fixtures, performing laboratory testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize battery performance and safety. You will also manage lab resources and write technical reports to communicate findings.
About You
Required:
- BS with 5+ years, MS with 3+ years, or a recent PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with hands-on experience in lithium-ion batteries.
- Extensive expertise in battery cell technologies, including Li-metal, Li-polymer, Sodium-ion, and solid-state batteries.
- Proficiency in cell test activities and data analysis.
Preferred:
- Experience in cell prototyping and product development for HEV, PHEV, or EV applications.
- Strong project planning and execution skills.
- Excellent laboratory skills, including experience in a glovebox or dry room environment.
