The Hartford is seeking a Sr Staff Data Engineer (Tech Lead) to join their team in Chicago, IL. The role involves leading the development, enhancement, and support of ETL data pipelines and optimizing data flow across various projects.
About the Role
As a Sr Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for modernizing legacy data assets, designing and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines, and managing data pipelines using cloud services. You will implement DataOps practices, establish Data Governance frameworks, and integrate AI/ML models into data workflows. Additionally, you will develop BI dashboards and monitor data pipelines for performance and reliability while mentoring other data engineers.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in data analysis, transformation, and development, with ideally 2+ years in the insurance or a related industry.
- 5+ years of strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL tools such as Informatica IDMC.
- 3+ years of experience developing and deploying large-scale data and analytics applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Snowflake.
- 3+ years of experience in Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of data observability and monitoring frameworks.
- Exposure to metadata management and data lineage tools.
- Familiarity with containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
