Summary
Gusto is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer for their Pay Group Engineering team, responsible for enhancing core platform capabilities and building the future of Gusto's Payroll system.
About the Role
In this role, you will design, build, and test the foundation that supports compliant payroll for millions. You will help scale one of the largest Ruby/Rails and TypeScript/React applications, collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor fellow engineers, and drive the technical strategy for your domain.
About You
Required:
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience in designing and developing robust, distributed systems using multiple programming languages.
- Ability to communicate technical complexity and facilitate informed tradeoffs.
- Experience building fault-tolerant, mission-critical software.
Preferred:
- Experience in Payroll, Taxes, or Compliance domains.
- Familiarity with current AI tools and their applications in software development.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Typescript, and React.
