About the Role
As a Sr. Director Legislative Counsel, you will serve as a subject matter expert ensuring compliance with the Lobbying Compliance Act, overseeing strategic projects that provide legislative, regulatory, and legal advice. Responsibilities include advancing AMA's legislative agenda, providing executive leadership for advocacy materials, analyzing emerging legislation, advising the Board of Trustees, and managing a team to prepare legislative analyses and testimony.
About You
Required:
- JD required
- 12+ years’ experience in legislative field; experience in a law firm or healthcare association required
- Strong understanding of AMA policies
- Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking
Preferred:
- 7+ years’ experience in people management; able to attract and develop talent
- Demonstrated experience in building legislative agendas and sound legal recommendations
- Political savvy
