Level Home is seeking a Sr. Product Design Engineer (Mechanical) to join their team in Redwood City, California. The role involves supporting the Hardware Design team in developing future smart home products.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will own subsystems within larger projects, collaborating closely with a Lead Mechanical Engineer. Your responsibilities will include selecting concepts and technologies, contributing to design, prototyping, validation, manufacturing, and maintenance of products, while ensuring scalability, reliability, and simplicity. You will also support decision-making processes, maintain clear product records, and promote transparent communication within the team.
About You
Required:
- 5+ years of product design experience managing subsystems within larger projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with experience in mechanism design and designing for strength and reliability.
- Experience in designing consumer-oriented products using various processes and materials, including plastic molding and metal parts.
- Solid math skills, including geometry, calculus, and physics.
- Familiarity with CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and other mechanical design software (ANSYS).
- Effective problem-solving skills with a balance of creative and critical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good communication skills, focusing on clear and transparent reporting.
- Understanding of customer needs and use cases.
- Demonstrates a proactive and self-starting attitude, able to work independently with minimal guidance.
Preferred:
- Experience working with Asian manufacturing and supply chains, including willingness to travel internationally for key supplier meetings and NPI builds.
