About the Role
As a Staff Architectural Historian, you will lead reconnaissance surveys, document buildings, and assist in developing National Register of Historic Places evaluations. Your responsibilities will include conducting archival research, writing historic contexts, and understanding relevant architectural styles while working in various terrains and weather conditions.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in history, architectural history, historic preservation, public history, heritage conservation, or a closely related field.
- Experience with the history, architecture, and infrastructure of the relevant regions.
- Ability to conduct pedestrian surveys in rough terrain and challenging weather.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, positive work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently and in a team.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in architectural history, historic preservation, public history, heritage conservation, or a closely related field.
- Meet or exceed the SOI Standards for Architectural History.
- 1+ years of professional experience as an Architectural Historian.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Software and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with ESRI Survey123 and iOS software.
