Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer, Embedded Operating Systems to join their team in Dallas, TX. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing operating system components for unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
About the Role
As a Staff Engineer, Embedded Operating Systems, you will be responsible for maintaining the Linux or real-time operating system components for UAVs, focusing on performance, reliability, and security. Your tasks will include optimizing the OS for concurrent processing, collaborating with hardware and software engineers, developing drivers and middleware, conducting testing and debugging, and providing technical leadership to junior engineers.
About You
Required:
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in OS development, particularly in real-time and embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of RTOS concepts, concurrent programming, and resource management.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or similar.
- Experience with developing drivers and middleware for hardware components.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices in embedded systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully shipping products and delivering high-quality solutions.
Preferred:
- Experience customizing, deploying, and maintaining Linux distributions created with Yocto.
- Experience with RTOS such as VxWorks, RTLinux, or Green Hills.
- Experience with Nvidia Jetson series OS customization and maintenance.
- Experience implementing Cyber Security procedures and policies.
