Tenable is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Event Sourcing/Stream Processing - Kafka to join their VM Platform team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role involves building and maintaining high-throughput, event-driven pipelines for processing data related to assets and vulnerabilities.
About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work at the center of Tenable's architecture, solving complex Big Data problems and designing systems that handle massive scale. You will be responsible for transitioning systems to a new architecture, deploying and monitoring services in production, and ensuring data accuracy in real-time.
About You
Required:
- 8+ years of Backend Engineering experience with a focus on high-volume data processing or distributed systems.
- Strong JVM Proficiency with deep experience in Java and Kotlin.
- Proven experience with Stream Processing Architecture, ideally with Kafka.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and data resiliency.
- Experience with stateful processing logic and calculating state from event histories.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and observability tools like Datadog.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL data stores.
Preferred:
- Experience with Event Sourcing or CQRS patterns.
- A background in security is a plus, but Big Data/Data Pipeline experience is prioritized.
