POWER Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern for Summer 2026 to work out of their Overland Park, KS office. This internship is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Civil Engineering degree program.
About the Role
As a Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern, you will support various engineering tasks aimed at developing your technical, social, and ethical skills. Your responsibilities will include applying principles of Structural Engineering to design structures and foundations for substation equipment, assisting with project research, fieldwork, design calculations, and preparing final design plans and cost estimates. You will also collect and maintain project documentation and complete training on assigned tasks while adhering to company policies.
About You
Required:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Masters or PhD program.
- Successful completion of junior-level courses in structural analysis and/or steel or concrete design.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
