Summary
DB E.C.O. North America is seeking a Subject Matter Expert - Rail Operations and Maintenance to support urban rail transit systems, focusing on CBTC and Platform Screen Door systems, based in Washington, DC.
About the Role
The role involves developing and leading the creation of standard operating procedures, O&M documentation, and strategies for CBTC and PSD systems; supporting system architecture and technical specifications from an operational and maintenance perspective; defining operating scenarios and failure management strategies; providing expertise in RAMSS planning; reviewing system specifications for compliance; developing and validating O&M manuals and training plans; interfacing with clients and multidisciplinary teams; supporting testing, commissioning, and operational readiness; and ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, transportation, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in rail transit operations and maintenance, including metro systems.
- Proven experience developing O&M concepts for highly automated rail systems.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. rail standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead workshops, mentor junior team members, and coordinate technical disciplines.
- Experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally occasionally.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of RAMS demonstration, lifecycle planning, verification and validation per CENELEC standards.
- Familiarity with automated train control, depot operations, and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Resilient, flexible, independent, and well-structured working approach.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
