About the Role
As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will conduct individual and group counseling sessions, coordinate care for assigned patients, and develop and implement patient treatment plans. You will provide clinical services, patient care, and education related to opiate addiction counseling. Additionally, you will evaluate patients' progress during therapy and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
About You
Required:
- Master’s Degree or higher in fields like chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or a related field with practical experience in a drug and alcohol setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
- Associate Degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
- Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board.
- Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records).
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
Preferred:
- Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
- Excellent documentation and computer skills.
