Summary
The Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to join their team in New York, NY. The role involves providing substance use treatment and support to individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
About the Role
As a Substance Use Counselor, you will be responsible for performing initial substance use assessments, providing individual and group counseling, contributing to treatment planning, and assisting participants in developing relapse prevention plans. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and engage with participants to address urgent substance use needs, ensuring culturally competent and trauma-informed care.
About You
Required:
Active CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification status in good standing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 18 months of work experience providing substance use services to individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder and criminal justice involvement.
Preferred:
Fluency in Spanish.
