Terrestris LLC is seeking a Surveying Technician to support the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service’s Lands Program in Asheville, NC. The role involves planning and conducting cadastral surveying projects and providing technical guidance in disaster recovery efforts.
About the Role
As a Surveying Technician, you will support disaster recovery project development, including project planning, preliminary surveys, project scoping, and general surveying duties. You will conduct complex cadastral surveying projects, prepare survey plats and reports, serve as a contract inspector, and provide training to Forest survey personnel. The position requires travel to various project locations within the National Forests in North Carolina.
About You
Required:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
- A High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in scoping, planning, and designing land surveying projects.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience preparing cost estimates and writing project specifications.
- Professional knowledge of established surveying concepts and principles.
- Working knowledge of federal and state land laws.
- Skill in operating precision surveying instruments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and ESRI GIS software.
- Ability to travel for extended periods over steep terrain.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
