Summary
The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a Systems Administrator to join their Research Operations IT Division, primarily supporting ARL's West Coast operations in Keyport, Washington.
About the Role
As a Systems Administrator, you will provide IT and technical support, ensure proper system design and maintenance, update existing systems, generate documentation, and consult with researchers on technology. You will also support field testing of underwater vehicles.
About You
Required:
- Advanced Linux and Windows administration and support.
- Fundamental understanding of networking concepts and technologies.
- Broad scope of IT hardware (server, workstation, networking, peripherals, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work through difficult technical problems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher.
- Familiarity with DCSA, DoD, and/or IC Authorization processes.
- Experience with automation and management of Linux and Windows system configurations.
- Knowledge of host firewalls, endpoint security, and vulnerability scanning tools.
- Familiarity with research computing environments and general scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.).
