Cisco is seeking a Systems Application Engineer (Acacia - Optical Communications) to join their team in Seattle, WA. About the Role
As a Systems Application Engineer, you will work closely with the Acacia team to provide technical guidance and support for optical communication products. Your responsibilities will include influencing product feature development, authoring application notes and specifications, and providing full life cycle technical support. You will also collaborate with various R&D teams and advocate for customer needs within the organization.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer science or optical engineering with 6+ years of experience in optical communications, Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or a PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Experience in OTN or optical network and Ethernet technologies.
- Experience with managed electrical/optical components and operations in switch and router platforms.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with CMIS and various 3rd party host platforms and network management tools.
- Coding/scripting experience (e.g., C++, Python, and JSON).
- Direct experience with electrical transceiver applications, including backplane and cable communications.
