NAVWAR is seeking a TOOL MAKER to join their Repair Department in Kings Bay, GA. The role involves setting up and operating conventional machine tools, applying toolmaking principles, and designing and manufacturing various tooling devices.
About the Role
As a TOOL MAKER, you will be responsible for setting up and operating all conventional machine tools and attachments. You will apply the principles and methods of the Toolmaking trade to layout, select tools, grinding wheels speeds and feeds, and machining operations. Additionally, you will design, repair, or manufacture jigs, fixtures, simple or progressive dies, hobs, drills, reamers, and various other tooling devices, as well as perform bench work such as filing, scraping, grinding, and lapping to finish assembled items.
About You
Required:
Must be a US Citizen.
Ability to do the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Experience in setting up and operating specialized and precision machines such as jig grinders and thread grinders.
Ability to apply advanced shop mathematics and formulas to determine dimensions and geometries.
Experience utilizing a wide variety of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastic, and rubber.
Preferred:
Experience working to tolerances of one tenth of one thousandths of an inch.
Familiarity with using micrometers, Vernier's, height gauges, surface gauges, dial indicators, and comparators.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.
