Summary
The Mutual Group is seeking a VP, Underwriting - Religious Organizations to lead their operational strategy and execution for the Religious Organizations business unit in Cincinnati, OH.
About the Role
As the VP of Underwriting for Religious Organizations, you will be responsible for the overall success of the business unit, including profit and loss management, business development, talent management, and product development. You will collaborate with leadership teams to create an Operating Plan that drives profitable growth, manage underwriting resources, define underwriting standards, and ensure compliance with guidelines. Additionally, you will direct product strategy, maintain relationships with key decision makers, and analyze business performance to inform strategic decisions.
About You
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial underwriting with a focus on portfolio management and strategic initiatives.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CPCU, ARM) preferred.
- Proficiency in underwriting tools, automation technologies, and data-driven decision-making.
- Deep understanding of commercial underwriting principles, particularly in niche segments such as Masters and Gaps.
- Knowledge of AI applications, automation, and authority structures in underwriting.
