About the Role
As a VPS Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for obtaining referrals, scheduling evaluations, reviewing clinical materials, performing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, preparing mental health reports, formulating treatment recommendations, arranging involuntary transports when necessary, and consulting with medical and mental health directors. You will also attend meetings, comply with quality assurance standards, and may be required to testify in court.
About You
Required:
- A valid New York State License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Registered Nurse, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred:
- Completion of a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program registered or approved by the New York State Education Department.
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by a national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department.
