Summary
YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Counselor for their Centennial program in Humble ISD, Houston, TX. The role involves providing quality care and facilitating structured play and educational activities for children in a before and after-school setting.
About the Role
As a Youth Development Counselor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children, implementing age-appropriate activities, managing behavior, and maintaining positive relationships with children and parents. You will also adhere to organizational policies and procedures, supervise children under the direction of the Site Lead, and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
About You
Required:
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of experience working with youth at a licensed facility, church, school, or equivalent.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
- Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or compliance with local health department regulations.
- Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check.
Preferred:
- Prior childcare or babysitting experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
