Summary
YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Counselor - Ferguson to provide quality care and youth development in before and after-school and camp settings in League City, TX.
About the Role
The Youth Development Counselor is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children, implementing age-appropriate activities, managing behavior positively, adhering to YMCA policies and state childcare licensing requirements, maintaining program site standards, supervising children under the Site Lead's direction, building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, and preventing child abuse by following mandated reporting and safety protocols.
About You
Required:
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months experience working with youth in licensed facilities, churches, schools, or equivalent.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training.
- Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate program activities.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Current tuberculosis examination record and compliance with local/state health regulations.
- Pass local/state background and FBI fingerprinting checks.
Preferred:
- Prior childcare or babysitting experience.
- Demonstrated interest in the welfare of children.
