YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Counselor for their Brookwood location in Houston, TX. The role involves providing quality care and facilitating structured play and educational activities for children in before and after-school settings.
About the Role
As a Youth Development Counselor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children, implementing age-appropriate activities, managing behavior, and maintaining positive relationships with children and parents. You will also adhere to organizational policies and procedures, supervise children under the direction of the Site Lead, and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
About You
Required:
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 6 months working with youth at a licensed facility, church, school or equivalent.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
- Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department regulations.
Preferred:
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Prior childcare or baby-sitting experience.
