Summary
KACE Company is seeking a Romani Linguist to join their team in a part-time capacity, working nationwide. The role involves performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Romani to English and communicating pertinent information to law enforcement.
About the Role
As a Romani Linguist, you will be responsible for transcribing and translating oral and written communications in Romani, maintaining a voice library, and producing court-ready transcriptions. You will also contribute to a master-list of slang terms and codes, operate specialized software, and maintain a daily log of productivity while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language.
- Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Must type 45 words per minute.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
- Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work in a team environment.
Benefits
- Hourly rate of $35/hr.
- Eligible for overtime as classified under the Service Contract Act.
